General and Acute Medicine

Perspective Medicine's General and Acute Medicine service provides specialist medical management for patients with illnesses requiring hospitalisation or multiple interacting medical issues. Our range of specialists and locations ensures streamlined care from pre-admission planning through to post-acute or long-term medical follow-up. 

Referrals are welcome for:

  • planned or emergency hospital admission (as primary physician or for co-management)

  • coordination of care for patients with multiple comorbidities

  • undifferentiated presentations (including breathlessness, anaemia or fatigue)

  • diagnostic dilemmas

  • advanced care planning and goals of care discussions (inpatient and outpatient settings)

  • inpatient pain management including post-operative pain 

  • polypharmacy and medication de-prescribing

  • diastolic heart failure and hypertension

  • syncope and orthostatic hypotension

The service is committed to providing same-day review for all emergency admissions and inpatient consultations, admission within three business days for planned admissions, and appointments within one month for non-urgent outpatient reviews.
